My Dad is helping me out..

I have a stained glass window that needed to be done for a dear friend.   I have too many irons in the fire to get it started, nevertheless, finish it.

My Dad taught me how to make stained glass windows many years ago.  He has created so many beautiful windows and lamps.   His love for the craft is unwavering.   He hasn't been able to do much stained glass work in a while, so I enlisted his help.  (Plus I really wanted him to visit!  I wanted my mom to come, but with the Texas heat, I think she would have wilted!)  Traveling from Asheville, NC to Central Texas was a furnace blast to his face when he walked out of the DFW airport!

I got him settled into my studio and he promptly began working.

My Dad's love for cutting glass and fitting each tiny piece together brings him great joy.  Plus he is a perfectionist!!

These windows will be side lights for my friend's front door.  They are iris' in purple, peach and blue with long green leaves and stems.

Soldering each piece together is very time consuming.

Making sure each tiny piece of glass fits exactly.
Did I tell you my dad is a perfectionist??!!

My cat Trixie is always close by for supervisor inspection.  Plus a pat on the head.
(Trixie is always right in the middle of whatever I am doing!)

I will post pictures of the finished windows.  I am sure they will be beautiful!

My dad is such a gentle, kind man.  Very intelligent and soft spoken.  His love for art and nature is beyond words.  His stained glass windows are beautiful, but you should see his photography!  (That will be another post soon.)I can not thank my dad enough for coming out into this blistering heat to help me out...but I think I enjoyed having him here working quietly beside me more than anything... that gives me great JOY!

Your Dad looks like a kind soul with a mile worth of patience. I mean what other kind of person could possibly create such beautiful glass pieces purrfectly?!? And what I can see in the picture looks fabulous! Add to that, he willingly came to help you out?!?! Well we give him two paws up! Heck I'd give him four paws up but he might think I'd fallen over from the heat and lose the point I was trying to make....Your Dad's an angel!

Purrs!

I could not help but tear up seeing the back of your dad's head, he looks so much like my father and I miss him so much. HE, like your dad was talented. I think its where we get out talent from gal.

GOD bless your sweet talented father for driving all that way to come see you and then to help you out. HE truly is talented and I look forwared to seeing more. I know staied glass, I use to do it and the worst part was wrapping all the pieces in copper foil.

I can see your father is a perfectionist.... YEP!

I cant wait to see the final and I know your friend will have many years of enjoyment with her windows and to know the love that went into them. MUCH LOVE.. NO GREATER LOVE...

God bless and keep you all safe and prayers for a safe return home for your dad.

Cindy you are a very lucky lady to have your dad come all that way in the heat to help out (and I am sure he enjoyed having this special time with you as well)!
The windows look great and I can hardly wait to see the finished product. I have a cat named Trixie too and she is quite persnickety.
I am trying to learn to solder and boy I wish your dad was a little closer and offered courses!
Have a wonderful day...

Oh Cindy,

Thank you for visiting, joining and most of all, LEAVING A COMMENT SO I COULD COME SEE YOU!

I so understand the awe that our fathers put us in with their wisdom, skills and arts. As you saw in my post, I did not give a lot of detail about my daddy, for I wanted to make a brief poetic statement. BUT MY DAD as well did so many things and he taught me more than I credited him to when he was alive. Big mistake. But, I pray that one day he will know how much his skills and influence mean to me. Your father's art is supreme in its beauty and the hard work it takes to patiently cut and place these fractions together to make a whole is astounding. I LOVE YOUR HEADER!!!! Enjoy the day, Anita

Greetings Cindy from Houston! I was so pleased to receive your kind comment today and leading me to your terrific blog. Having your father there with you, creating a beautiful piece of art with stained glass, has to be one of those magnificent memories to hold on to forever? Dads are truly special. Your father reminds me much of mine. Trixie is pretty cute too!! Looking forward to seeing the finished window and your dads photography.

Cheers ~ Deb
