Plowday

My friend, Patti and her husband Michael, host a Plowday each April.

I wasn't really sure what it was, but when I got to their ranch, I was pleasantly surprised.

Each year, a group of great people get together with their mules, Percheron and draft horses and plow the fields with antique plows.

It was like stepping back in time.

It was calming and rhythmic as the teams plowed the fields.

The people I met are genuine and true.   Hard working, love their animals, their families and most of all, the land that they turn.

I can't wait until next year's plowday...

vintage buttons, tatting and paper

I made these this past weekend.  I was going to put them in my Etsy Shop, but I decided to put them in the two local shops.

An antique button and tatting on old yellowed vellum with a tiny bee.

Three vintage pearl buttons on lace and printed paper with brass locket

Rose buds from tea stained binding tape and faux pearls

Large brass bird with tiny green and clear beads.

Silver spoon, old key, copper patina bird and silver spoon handle with crystal

Three old blue buttons, vintage tatting and faux pearls

Mother of pearl button, tatting and vintage beads

I will make more for my Etsy Shop.   If you would like more information on these or special orders, please contact me.  I will be more than happy to create something special for you!

how my garden grows

After all the 'tilling, raking, composting, digging and planting, my vegetable garden is showing signs of life!

The green beans will soon be climbing and blooming

My sister grew Swiss Chard in her garden last year and I was hooked!
It is such a beautiful plant,  I can't wait for stir fry!

Zucchini squash is one of my favorites!

A nice Early Girl Red Pepper.
I also planted green peppers and a jalapeno pepper
j
This is the first time I have planted purple heirloom tomatoes, they are
growing well so far!

I can't wait to pick these cherry tomatoes and eat them right out of the garden

I LOVE Roma tomatoes

I can't forget the birds!  These giant sunflowers will be tasty in a few months

A heart rock in the birdbath

My larkspur is blooming and adding pretty color to the vegetable garden

and a fence to keep all the night time critters out!

I hope that we get some much needed rain here in central Texas or my garden will be done before it ever begins!

a study in pink

I received a beautiful bouquet of flowers last week all in various shades of pink.

I put them in my old blue Atlas mason jar.

The romance of the colors are so appealing to me.

The rose is from my knock out rose bush.

I am not sure the name of these pretty little flowers, but they are so beautiful on my front porch.

Thanks to Kim Klassen for the photoshop textures!
