a typical Saturday afternoon

There is always something to be done around here.
Besides tending to the cattle and land, fences need to be repaired..

Gates to be welded and hung.

While the head honcho is working, I decide to take a little walk around the pastures.

I never get tired of the beauty that surrounds me.

This is a "cattle scratch".  It is very old and belonged to the previous owners years ago. Oil is pumped into the well and drips out onto the thousands of washers stacked on a metal cord.  The cattle like to rub their backs on it.  It helps deter flies and moisturizes their dry skin in the summer.

I love the old plaque and font on "Old Scratch".

I am not fond of the briar vines that tangle themselves on the old fences.  They become very thick and nasty vines. However, briar vines have the most beautiful blue/black berries in the winter..

and makes a great place to hide!

I am not sure what kind of vine this is, but it is so pretty.  It might be a bittersweet?

As I get closer to the pasture with the cattle, the little ones become more curious.

Still hiding behind their mama's back, they peek around to see what we are doing.

This little guy isn't leaving his mama's side!

Our red heeler, appropriately named Red, thinks it is time to work!

While my Aussie shepherd, Tess, doesn't deem it necessary.

Until one mama cow thinks she is too close and SHE runs behind her mama!

The head honcho is done with his work, so we called it a day.. A perfect day.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL!

'Tis the season

This really is my most favorite time of the year

Everything seems so magical

and sweet

Memories of loved ones that have passed
come to mind

and the love for my family and friends
almost make me want to cry with joy

But this year is even more special because of
our 10 month old grandson, Colt

Santa did good this year..

loud quietness

I pass by our windmill everyday as I turn into our driveway.

It may turn in a different direction, spin fast or not at all.

It is a stationary structure made of steel, gears, oil and grease.

This old windmill makes me smile.

It is the framework for moon rises

Sunrises

beautiful sunsets

watches over the land in extreme drought

and approaching storms

A wonderful place to sing loudly..

This windmill has seen many a storm, fierce wind and drought, however, it has also seen the most spectacular sky's that the universe has created.

The older I get, the louder the quiet things speak to me.    There is a great lesson in living in stillness.  Storms have strengthened me and love has softened me.

My windmill reminds me at the end of the day to be still, let thing unfold as they should, to be strong and face the winds of change with dignity and grace.

finally...

I don't know where the time goes, there doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day to get everything done that needs to be done.  From working full time, taking care of the farm and family. It is hard to get time to do what I really crave...being creative.

I have finally had time to post pictures of what I really enjoy doing..

Here are a few things I have listed on Etsy

A few things I have have in local shops:

Don't forget to LIVE THE LIFE YOU IMAGINE..

have a great day!
