Remembering a great friend

I was going through some old pictures on my computer and came across this picture of my dog Samantha.  I had to put her down in December 2010.  I miss her everyday!
She was my very best friend, most importantly, through the hardest time in my life.  Sam went everywhere with me riding shotgun in my jeep.   When she did not get to go with me, she was always so happy to see me with her huge tail wagging and a sweet smile on her face.

This picture was taken at my friend Jennifer's old timey saloon during the day.  It is my favorite picture of Sam.  I have pictures of her around and her collar hanging close by, but seeing this made me a little sad and made me really miss her.  But I am so very lucky to have had her in my life.  She taught me how to handle a stressful situation by just getting outside enjoy life as it comes.

I miss you Samantha Blue!

Ahh, Samantha was beautiful and what a great photo!

I know exactly what you mean, too. My 19 year old cat died just this morning, so seeing your post made me feel not so alone. Thank You for that.

Thankfully, this time around our furkid passed away in her sleep. And it really is so very hard having to take them to the vet to have them put down, so boy do I understand what you're saying. The way I've gotten through those times is knowing that it was the humane, right thing to do.

I can really inderstand how you feel...my best friend Sydney passed away 4 days before her 16th birthday 3 years ago last month...I couldn't bear parting with her so we have her ashes in a beautiful cedar box along with framed pictures of her...we say hello to her everyday...its weird because that was one of the hardest losses I have ever had...I miss her everyday!!

Cindy - Sam looks like she was a wonderful day and a true companion...we had a yellow lab named Forrest who was a rescue dog - we gave him a second lease on life and he lived til he was 15 - it was so hard to put him down at the end - I have a great photo of him in my studio and the southern man carries Forrest's tags on his key chain...he will never be forgotten!

We lovers of the four legged kind all have our memories that touch our hearts again and again. My "Gadget" and my "Libbey" collars are always hanging close by, and I am surprised by how often their names enter my conversations even after so many years..just like today :D

What a wonderful photo of Sam....Looks like she is saying "c'mon let's go, let's go out and play." If only humans could be so humane......

What a gorgeous photo.
I know she will be waiting
for you someday by the
Rainbow Bridge, but in the
meantime your heart can't
help but ache for the empty
spot that only she will ever
fill.

Thanks for sharing your
beautiful heart, Cindy!

Oh Cindy what an awesome photo of Sam. I am sorry I am sure you miss him. I had two dogs Tasha and Ginger for 15 years each and they taught me the same thing. HUGS B

I think anyone who has ever had a dog can understand those bonds of friendship.....we just got our new puppy 8 days ago...after we lost our Bella in Dec...we kind of half feel like we are betraying her by getting another dog.....
I am your newest follower..pls follow back if you can.

Isn't it striking how nature slows us down to THINK and breathe in the beauty around us? Dogs make me happy, laugh and forget and RESHAPE my perspective. Yes, I miss my beloved pets as well...Oh Cindy, how kind of you to visit today!!! LOVE! Anita

Hi Cindy, There is nothing like a good dog. They can be the tenderest, loving, loyal and truest friends ever. This photo is incredible, you should have a blow-up and hang it on your wall. It almost looks like an oil painting, you could even get it printed on canvas.
Thank you so much for your sweet comment on our photograph. We haven't had a photo together in a very long time. Have a beautiful and blessed day, Connie :)

"A Dog is the only living creature that loves you more than themself. I heard that somewhere and tend to agree..... Can I ask where the saloon is located? Looks like my kind of place. Might drop by someday and have a sasparilla....
