ranch life...

 I love Sunday mornings

We always go out early on Sunday mornings when we are not rushed to get to work or attend other obligations.

A Bluebird guards her nest nearby

The biggest surprise this past Sunday morning was the birth of a calf..
She is only hours old, still a little sleepy and full of mama's milk

Tess gets a closer look

and gives her a welcoming kiss!
She is a lover, not a herder.
She would rather chase butterflies in another field than to herd cattle!

Our older cattle dog wants her to get up so he can herd her!

One of the jack rabbits on the place trying to sneak away

I think I will use this big mama for my spokes person
for Fat Cow Studio!
She will be having her baby VERY soon!

A mockingbird on the windmill.
I took this photo and the exposure was way off,
I added a few textures from Kim Klassen's collection
and I like the way it turned out!

Until next time!

What a nice walk that was, thank you! The last picture looks like you painted it, it's lovely. I feel for the expecting mamma, she is huge! I looked a bit like that with our last one, Max! Thanks again for the walk, I loved it! t.xoxo

New calves are great! The only pictures I have taken were too graphic yet to share on my blog. Plus I couldn't get that close because the new mama wasn't too excited about us being there.

Love this post, Cindy! One of my most favorite signs of spring around here is the new baby calves as we pass the ranches going into town.
Your last photo looks like a watercolor. GORGEOUS! :)
Hope you have a great day,
Zuzu

Oh Cindy, this is so magical and enchanting!! The little calf is so precious, look at those big eyes! AND THAT FAT COW is one big MAMMA and she will be the best spokescow for the studio! teeheee.... Wow, I have so much to discover. I love what you did with Kim's collection on your photo! I got Photoshop for my birthday in April and with school, I have not had time to learn to use it. But yesterday was my last day and YIPEEEE I am done. Thank you for coming to take a DIP in those blue waters! Do come back for a romp in Paris thanks to all the participants. COWS are a lovely party of the landscape in France!!! Have a grand day, Anita

Hi Cindy,
Just read your post. Love it! Nature is so wonderful...
There's something magical in a new birth;a new beginning,a new hope. Wonderful.
I've never seen a Bluebird, its beautiful and your picture of the Mockingbird is great. Some of the best results are mistakes.
Well done.
Looking forward to seeing the new arrival from the Big MAMA.
Have a fab weekend
