cold weather bloomers

My kitchen windowsill is blooming!  I love having plants and flowers when it is so dreary outside.

My Christmas cactus is blooming right on time

My collections of McCoy white critters are perfect for succulents

An avocado seeds will be sprouting soon..

But my all time favorite is the paperwhites.

I get a little carried away.  I put them in everything..

I love the way they look in the old blue Atlas jar

or a white creamer

Crocks, glass jars and rusted buckets make a good home to the bulbs

Just bloomed this morning!

I love my two old coffee cans!

I made this little bird house a couple of years ago-
I stuck it in my plant at the studio..cute!

I love this small sifter, just right for more succulents.

It has been cold and raining the last couple of days here in central Texas.
When the skies are grey and dreary, it is nice to look at my windowsills and see the beauty of the paperwhites, Christmas cactus and other growing, green plants.

I can't wait until the rest of my paperwhites bloom!  They are such sweet little flowers!

xoxo

gorgeous, Cindy! How are you doing the avocado seed? I would like to try that sometime. My dad grew up with avocado groves in California, I think I inherited a bit of avocado fever.

Your plants are wonderful - love your ingenious containers - the old coffee cans and sifter are great! Love me my paperwhites too - but always have problems with them getting too tall and bending over - uh duh, a tall glass jar like that would be perfect! Hmmmm...wonder if it's too late to find bulbs....Rain? We got a good dose of the white stuff over the weekend. Tis the season....Wising you a great week ahead! Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin

So bright & pretty! This is the first year I've tried growing paperwhites, and so far very little is happening. I guess the roots are busy doing their thing.
Wishing you a lovely one, Cindy!
Hugs,
Zuzu

Girl, you have the perfect spot to grow flowes in that window. I love the creative way you put to use these old and handmade items to grow plants in them.

Those paper whites will be blooming in no time.

Tell my about the advacado? How do you grow a plant from the pit?

I have always wanted to try forcing some bulbs during the winter season and have never tried. Maybe I will give it a go this year as yours look so wonderful!

MOL - "she" is not so smart....always thought the paperwhites were little white daffodils meowmeowmeow Purrsonally, I love the purrfect little bite size of them. But I will refrain from sampling, afterall with that kind of weather you really do need those little faces of happiness. "She" loves the old containers best :) Purrhaps the sifter, although normally "she" has a weakness for blue ball jars...but then there is the coffee cans, those are up there in the favorites too.....

We hope all is well. Thinking of mew.....and Trixie!

I enjoyed all your plants also . I like to have something blooming all year round also.
My Christmas catus was blooming Thanksgiving and still has a few blooms
I usually have an amarillis, guess I forgot to get me one. Did you see where you can hang your amarillis bloom unside down and water it through the stem? I am going to try that

It's great that you are keeping spring/summer alive in your house! It's cold here in Loveland, OH...but very Christmas-y. Come January I'll want spring but right now, I'm enjoying winter!!
