being of grace...

from the book of awakening...

We begin so aware and grateful.  The sun somehow hangs there in the sky.  The little bird sings.  The miracle of life just happens.

Then we get a splinter in our foot and all we can think about is the painful splinter.
Our vigilance becomes:    Which defines our day-
The pain we feel when walking on the splinter in our foot or
the miracles that are still happening around us.

It is giving over to smallness that opens us to misery, our focus narrows..

We forget the beauty, the comfort and dreams that we have in our daily lives.
When we are hurt, nature has a way of shutting us down for a while and all we can think about is the splinter in our foot.

Hurt is a moment of suffering allowed to become everything.  When hurting, we must look wider than what hurts.

Once the splinter is removed, we can heal and move on.  There may be remnants of the splinter still embedded in our foot, but it will soon be covered with new skin and fade away.

"If peace comes from seeing the whole,
then misery stems from a loss of perspective"
Mark Nepo

Sometimes things just seem to be out of balance for awhile,  I find that if I just breathe, pray and be of grace, things right themselves.

I wish you all a very happy week!

xo  Cindy

You are wise Cindy. Your words remind me of Hansen's disease(leprosy)patients who are not capable of feeling pain. They can get deadly infection and get burned because of that. Pain can be a gift.

Hello there Cindy! I think we both had nature and the beautiful things in life on our minds this week! How gorgeous are your thoughts and photos; thank you so much for coming to visit! Anita

I love this post so very much, Cindy! You really have a way with words and the photos that you have taken to go along with it are just stunning!! Thanks for sharing these sentiments as we all need to be reminded of the good things we have rather than that one annoyance. By the way, Joel Olsteen, in his sermon yesterday, spoke of that very thing. He said we need to turn up our "victory dial". Good thought, right?

This is beautiful, Cindy.

I find that stepping outside and looking up into the stars, and realizing that I cannot see them all at once, helps. Suddenly, I am reminded that everything is in it's place and all is as it should be.

Hugs & a happy week to you & yours,
Zuzu

That is so true! Sometimes I let that little splinter master my life and I should know better. I will take a life with lots of little splinters, than no life at all. But that splinter will not get the better of me. :) Kit

We all get that way and especially with times being as hard as they are and the world in such chaos. I pray if you are going through some difficult time, May the lord ease your pain and give you peace in your soul. Hope all is well with you and your family.
